Choosing Your Ideal Office Chair: Key Considerations
1. Backrest
Choose from four options:
- Ergoform and ErgoAir: Supportive fabric backrests with built-in lumbar support. ErgoAir adds a pneumatic pump for adjustable support but otherwise these backrests are the same.
- Mesh Backrest: Built-in lumbar support with height adjustment and a breathable mesh finish - ideal for airflow and those who prefer a cooler seat.
- Ergo Midi Backrest: Essentially the compact version of the Ergoform backrest, specifically designed to suit individuals with a smaller build or body frame.
2. Mechanism Type
- Synchro: Allows the seat and back to move together in a fixed ratio, promoting active sitting and subtle movement throughout the day. A great option to reduce fatigue and support long-term comfort. (See our blog for more detail.)
- 4-Lever: Offers full independent control over seat height, back height, back angle, and seat tilt — ideal for users with specific postural needs or clinical recommendations. (See our blog for more detail.)
3. Seat Size
Choose your seat based on your personal height and width:
- Small (460x460mm) – for users <155cm
- Standard (520x520mm) – suits ~80% of users
- Large (540x540mm) – for users >190cm
4. Armrests
Armrests can provide added support for your shoulders and arms, but may limit how close you can sit to your desk — in some cases, going without may be ideal. If you choose armrests, select from classic black nylon or polished alloy for a more executive finish. For a cohesive look, match your armrest with your chair base.
5. Gas Lift Height
Your ideal seat height depends on your desk setup and body. We offer multiple gas lift options to suit. If the standard 500–600mm height isn’t right for you, select "Other" and then email us at admin@peninsulaofficefurniture.com.au to provide your floor-to-seat measurement and we’ll select the best fit. Ensure your feet are flat on the floor and measure up to the top of the seat cushion.
6. Base Type
Purely aesthetic — choose between the classic black nylon base or a polished alloy finish for a more executive look. Match to your arm rest choice for a more cohesive look.
7. Colour
Personal preference - choose from black, navy, charcoal or black vegan leather.
8. Consider a height-adjustable desk
